    14-007 Navigation locks on Columbia, Snake rivers to close for annual maintenance

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close navigation locks at dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers in March to conduct routine annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs to major lock systems like gates, valves, pumps and electrical gear.

    14-006 Bennington Lake road access temporarily closed for safety

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Icy conditions on Reservoir Road leading to Bennington Lake have prompted U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers to temporarily close access to the lake parking area, operations officials at Mill Creek Dam and Bennington Lake announced, today.

    14-005 Corps completes environmental compliance for Inland Avian Predation Management Plan

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the Inland Avian Predation Management Plan (IAPMP). District leadership signed a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on Jan. 23. This completes the Corps’ environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

    14-004 Dworshak discharge flows to change tomorrow

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Water discharge from Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho, will temporarily increase starting Wednesday, Feb. 5, between 4 and 5 a.m., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials announced today.

    14-003 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Monday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.

    14-002 Corps considers state recreation grant to extend Grandad boat ramp

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Recreation planners at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir are preparing to apply for a Waterways Improvement Fund grant from the State of Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to repair and extend the Grandad Recreation Area boat ramp, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers natural resources management staff at the dam announced today.

    14-001 Corps removing obsolete Dworshak Hatchery road bridge; At-grade railroad crossing will replace old bridge

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – The Dworshak Hatchery access road bridge across railroad tracks near Orofino, Idaho, is being removed and replaced with an at-grade vehicle crossing, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials. Motorists should be aware of construction traffic in the area through the planned end of the project on Apr. 30. For safety, some hiking trails near Bruce’s Eddy recreation area at Dworshak Dam have been temporarily closed during initial January construction.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Water discharge from Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho, will temporarily fluctuate on Wednesday, Dec. 18, between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff run tests on hydroelectric generator Number 2 which recently underwent periodic maintenance, operations officials at the dam announced today.
