Lower Granite Dam gets new 130-ton crane; vehicle-crossing delays scheduled
POMEROY, Wash. – Drivers wishing to cross over Lower Granite Lock and Dam may encounter traffic delays or intermittent closures July 11-17 to accommodate construction activities, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

Corps will accept new McNary reservoir private ‘individual dock’ applications July 1-31; existing private dock owners must renew permits by Aug. 1
WALLA WALLA, Wash. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District will begin accepting applications on July 1 for new private “individual dock” permits on the McNary reservoir shoreline, also known as Lake Wallula, per an updated 2012 McNary Shoreline Management Plan. Acceptance of new individual dock permit applications in July follows the Corps’ effort to first accept new private “community dock” permit applications beginning in March of this year per public input on how to best implement the plan. Community dock permit applications are for larger docks that serve two to four households along the shoreline.

Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Independence Day; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams
WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Independence Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.

Update: Corps continues to improve dam safety in Walla Walla District
The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is continuing its ongoing effort to improve safety at its dams and dam-related levees throughout the Snake River basin, at McNary Lock and Dam/Lake Wallula on the Columbia River, and at Mill Creek in the Walla Walla River Basin.
