    STARBUCK, Wash. -- Little Goose Dam's navigation lock, located at Snake River Mile 70.3 near Starbuck, Washington, will experience delays in lockages June 19-22, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in the Walla Walla District.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Sponsors of flood risk management projects within the Walla Walla District which were damaged by spring flooding events may find some help repairing their levees and related structures from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers if they submit their request for assistance by July 31, according to Corps emergency management officials.

    KENNEWICK, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Feasibility Study/Environmental Assessment (FS/EA) for the Clover Island Ecosystem Restoration Project. Comments on are due to the Corps no later than Thursday, July 6, 2017.
  • President's Fiscal 2018 Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program released

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) includes $5.002 billion in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). "The fiscal 2018 Civil Works budget for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reflects the administration's priorities to support and improve the nation's economy and infrastructure, and to protect the American people," said Mr. Doug Lamont, senior official performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. "This Budget supports the core mission areas of coastal and inland navigation, reducing flood risks from riverine flooding and along our coasts, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.”

    SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – If your upcoming Memorial Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.
  • 17-069 Dworshak Dam Visitor Center announces new summer season Visitor Center and tour hours

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Summer is just around the corner, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like you to know that Dworshak Dam Visitor Center will be open seven days a week starting Friday, May 26, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, through Labor Day weekend. The Visitor Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tours of the dam will be offered daily at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Tours are limited to 8 people, and photo identification is required.
  • 17-068 Canyon Creek Road repaired, and campground and boat ramp now open

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Canyon Creek Road access to Dworshak Reservoir has been re-opened after road repairs, and the Canyon Creek Campground and Boat Ramp are now open and accessible by visitors. A rock and mud landslide on Canyon Creek Road this spring forced closure of the road leading to the popular recreation area. For safety, visitors are advised that there are logging operations occurring adjacent to the recreation area.
  • 17-067 Significant river debris within Little Goose Dam juvenile fish bypass system screens cause fish loss during this year’s unusually high river flows

    DAYTON, Wash. – Significant river debris caused by unusually high Snake River flows damaged vertical barrier fish screens (VBS) in Little Goose Lock and Dam’s juvenile bypass system (JBS). Several damaged VBS screens entrapped juvenile steelhead and salmon between the VBS mesh and metal “porosity plates,” which control the flow of water.” Debris damage caused 1,800 juvenile fish to perish as they were exposed to excessively turbulent water conditions. Of those 1,800 fish lost, 1,438 were hatchery steelhead. About 10 million juvenile fish migrate downstream this time of year at Little Goose.
  • 17-066 Ice Harbor Dam’s navigation lock slated for 10-hour closure May 16

    BURBANK, Wash. – Ice Harbor Dam's navigation lock, located at Snake River Mile 9.7 near Burbank, Washington, will be temporarily out of service on Tuesday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in the Walla Walla District.
