    AHSAHKA, Idaho – The facsimile phone number has changed for submitting public comments about the “Dworshak Nutrient Supplementation Pilot Study” Environmental Assessment by March 17, 2012. The new fax number is 509-527-7804. The U.S. Mail and email addresses remain the same.

    Hard Rock Dolphin 4 to be removed Saturday; vessels advised to avoid area

    BURBANK, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract to remove Hard Rock Mooring Dolphin 4 which was declared extremely hazardous following a comprehensive routine inspection conducted Tuesday, Feb. 28, by Walla Walla District structural engineers.

    Approximately 44 gallons of new transformer oil leaked into the Snake River during an oil transfer operation at Ice Harbor Lock and Dam Monday morning, Feb. 27, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District officials.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close navigation locks at dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers in March to conduct annual inspections, repairs and maintenance.

    If your upcoming Washington’s Birthday weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.

    The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently identified metal tubing failures as the likely source of several inadvertent oil leaks from power transformer heat exchangers or “cooling units” at Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Snake River.
