    Corps sets June 16 Ice Harbor 50th Anniversary event schedule; Online photo album features construction photos

    On Saturday, June 16, Ice Harbor Lock and Dam is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its construction with a commemoration event beginning at 10 a.m. and an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to the day’s festivities marking U.S. Army Corps of Engineers efforts to build the dam, navigation lock, powerhouse, fish ladders and recreation areas. The keynote speaker will be announced later.

    Summer recreational vessel lockage schedule begins May 15

    Tuesday, May 15, marks the start of the summer schedule for recreational boaters using navigation locks to travel past U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers, Corps navigation planners announced today.

    Work to install a pedestrian bridge across Yellowhawk Creek may require intermittent closures of the Mill Creek Office parking lot May 8-10 between the hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.

    Corps completes environmental compliance for Dworshak Nutrient Supplementation Project Environmental Assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District has completed environmental compliance for the Dworshak Nutrient Supplementation Project, an ecosystem improvement project at Dworshak Reservoir. After review and consideration of recent public comments in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Corps found that the project would not have significant impacts on the environment.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir are asking for the public’s help by providing information about serious vandalizing of the Elk Creek “No Wake” buoy on the reservoir during this past winter.

    Bassmaster Magazine ranks Columbia River and Dworshak Reservoir in Top 100 best bass fishing spots

    Of the thousands of fishing holes across the nation, two locations managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District made the Bassmaster Magazine Top-100 list of best places to fish for bass, according to an April 24 release by B.A.S.S.     Rainstorms and snowmelt forecasted to increase river flows; Corps encourages flood-safety preparedness

    Mother Nature must have known April 22-28 is National Severe Weather Week. Sunday marked the beginning of the first-ever National Severe Weather Week. NOAA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) partnered to raise awareness about severe weather risks and preparedness.
