    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- As the nation's largest federal provider of water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stresses water safety and urges extra caution while in or around water during the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

    19-077 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Thursday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    If your upcoming Independence Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.

    19-073 Boise River flows to decrease to 1,550 cfs by Friday

    BOISE, Idaho -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to reduce flows through the City of Boise by 600 cubic feet per second (cfs) on Wednesday, June 26, reaching approximately 2,750 cfs by late-morning. They will follow that by decreasing flows by 600 cfs on Thursday and 600 cfs on Friday, reaching 1,550 cfs at the Glenwood gauge on Friday morning.

    19-072 Corps sets June 27 Lower Monumental 50th Anniversary event schedule

    On Thursday, June 27, Lower Monumental Lock and Dam is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its construction with a commemoration event beginning at 9 a.m. with an open house from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and a ceremony from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The public is invited to the day’s festivities marking U.S. Army Corps of Engineers efforts to build the dam, navigation lock, powerhouse, fish ladders and recreation areas. The keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Christian N. Dietz, Walla Walla District Commander.
