    Port of Umatilla provides tree maintenance, gravel, playgrounds for real estate contract transaction

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Port of Umatilla paid $460,000 of in-kind services to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District for a real estate contract transaction. This is one of the largest in-kind consideration agreements the district has ever worked.

    USACE updates Safe Lockage Policy for recreational vessels on Columbia, Snake rivers

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has put the following guidelines in place for the continued safe passage of recreational craft through the navigation locks at McNary, John Day, The Dalles, and Bonneville dams on the Columbia River, and Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite dams on the Snake River:

    Construction to begin at Mill Creek June 10

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District will begin construction projects at Mill Creek, June 10, to improve habitat conditions for endangered salmonids and improve flood risk management operations, while also replacing the boat ramp for public use at Bennington Lake.

    Fire destroys Natural Resource Management building at Ice Harbor

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Tri-Rivers Natural Resources Management (NRM) Office, located at Ice Harbor Lock and Dam, was destroyed by a fire on the night of May 19. An earlier wildfire in the surrounding area is suspected to have caused the blaze, which is believed to have been ignited from embers near the building. No injuries were reported.

    Dworshak Dam discharge increasing to safely control the rate of reservoir fill

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Dworshak Dam is currently releasing 1,600 cubic feet per second (cfs). Flows will begin increasing on the evening of Tuesday, May 21st to be in the approximate range of 3,000-5,000 cfs.

    LEWISTON, Idaho –The US Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is banning all forms of rock climbing beyond the buck-and-rail fence on "River Run" trail in Hells Gate Habitat Management Unit, beginning June 1.
