• Joint-District News Release: Navigation locks on Columbia, Snake rivers close for annual maintenance, repairs

    COLUMBIA & SNAKE RIVERS, Ore. & Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct routine annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs at all navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers during March.
  • 18-011 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Monday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – If your upcoming Washington’s Birthday weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams on the river in Washington are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federally recognized holidays, unless otherwise announced. Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy, Wash., will be open for public vehicle crossings from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Monday, Feb. 19, holiday. However, Walla Walla District operations officials want to remind the public of the Washington’s Birthday holiday closure affecting two of three dams that normally allow public vehicle crossings – Little Goose, near Starbuck, Wash.; and Lower Monumental, near Kahlotus, Wash. Little Goose and Lower Monumental are normally open Monday through Thursday, but will be closed for the holiday.

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Public vehicle traffic across Little Goose Lock and Dam will be temporarily suspended Monday through Thursday, Feb. 12-15, to accommodate river-debris collection and removal activities, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, operations officials at the dam.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District issued a final Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the City of Stites Wastewater System Improvement Project on Feb. 6, 2018. The Corps plans to assist the City of Stites, Idaho (City) with upgrades to their wastewater system.
  • 18-007 Dworshak increases flow discharge to 12,500 c.f.s.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Discharge flows from Dworshak Dam and Reservoir are being increased today, Feb. 7, 2018, beginning at about 4 p.m., from approximately 6,000 c.f.s. (cubic feet per second) to about 12,500 c.f.s. to make room in Dworshak Reservoir to meet seasonal flood-risk-management requirements. The water surface elevation of the mainstem Clearwater River is expected to increase by about 8-9 inches during this outflow increase, as measured at the U.S.G.S. streamgage located near Peck, Idaho, about 4 miles downstream of Ahsahka. Additional increases may be necessary as conditions change.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Three U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District employees deployed Sunday, Feb. 4, to support Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) hurricane-recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, according to District emergency management officials.
  • 18-005 Dworshak Dam discharge flows to increase today

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Dworshak Dam discharge flows will begin increasing 1,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) per hour today, which should result in a less than six inch increase in depth, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials.
  • 18-004 Work around Little Goose’s navigation lock to temporarily increase lockage times

    Starbuck, Wash. – Locking a vessel past Little Goose Lock and Dam may take a bit longer than usual from Jan. 29, 2018 to Feb. 28, 2018. According to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at the dam, ongoing work is being performed in the vicinity of the lock approach when approaching the upstream side of the lock.
