    16-062 Corps helping salmon survive this year by cooling lower Snake River water at Little Goose and Lower Granite dams adult fish ladders; More sockeye are surviving this year

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to improve adult salmon passage on the lower Snake River to counter the effects of hot summer water on migrating adult salmon and steelhead.

    16-061 Corps, WSU, WDFW, Sheriff’s offices team up to encourage safe play at popular river destinations

    POMEROY, Wash. – With summer weather soon to wane, many people flock to riverside recreation areas to bank-up on some outdoor fun in the sun. Corps rangers, Garfield County Sheriff, Whitman County Sheriff, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol and Washington State University Police work together, under cooperative agreements and/or contracts, to help patrol popular party spots on the lower Snake River – primarily the Corps-managed Illia Dunes and Granite Point near Wawawai Landing.

    UPDATE #2 - July 25, 2016 - BOISE, Idaho – UPDATE #2 (July 25, 2016): U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff reopened the Mores Creek Arm of Lucky Peak Lake to visitors, including Robie boat launch and nearby boat-in camping areas. These areas were temporarily closed Thursday to accommodate Mile Marker 14 Fire helicopter fire-fight operations.
