  • 18-111 Sixteen Walla Walla District power team members return from mission in Guam; two relocate to Saipan to assist recovery efforts

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Sixteen members of Walla Walla District’s 18-member Temporary Emergency Power Planning and Response Team (PRT) returned home during Sept. 13 and 14, after providing support to FEMA’s Typhoon Mangkhut emergency-response efforts in Guam and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), according to District emergency management officials. Both Guam and the CNMI are U.S. territories located east of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean. Two Power PRT members will remain to continue assisting FEMA’s temporary emergency power assistance mission.

  • 18-110 Work starts Sept. 15 to repair Heise-Roberts Levee flood damage

    RIGBY, Idaho – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors plan to begin work Saturday, Sept. 15, to rehabilitate flood-damaged areas of the Heise-Roberts Levee System, located near Rigby, Idaho, on the upper Snake River between Jefferson and Madison counties. The levee was damaged in multiple locations by sustained high flows during the 2017 and 2018 flood seasons.

  • 18-109 Corps invites comments on draft FONSI for City of Blackfoot Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Improvements Project

    BLACKFOOT, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on its draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the City of Blackfoot, Idaho, Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Improvements Project. Comments are due to the Corps no later than Friday, Oct. 12, 2018.

  • 18-108 Columbia-Snake winter navigation lock schedule begins Sept. 15

    COLUMBIA-SNAKE RIVERS, Ore. & Wash. -- Beginning Saturday, Sept. 15, recreational boaters can lock past U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams on the lower Snake and Columbia rivers almost any time during daylight hours, according to Corps navigation planners. Commercial vessels will have precedence, and recreational vessels may be allowed to lock through with commercial craft at the discretion of the lockmaster.

  • 18-107 Little Goose navigation lock reopens to all river traffic

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Dam's navigation lock reopened to all vessel traffic Friday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. after repairing a component of the downstream gate machinery which malfunctioned on Sept. 5, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials at the dam, located at Snake River Mile 70 near Starbuck, Washington.

  • 18-106 Walla Walla District deploys 18-member emergency power team to support FEMA’s Tropical Storm Mangkhut mission in Guam

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – An 18-member U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Temporary Emergency Power Planning and Response Team (PRT) from the Walla Walla District deployed today, Sept. 8, in response to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) request for temporary emergency-power assistance in anticipation of Tropical Storm Mangkhut, moving toward the vicinity of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and Guam, U.S. territories located east of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean, according to District emergency management officials.

    CARMEN, Idaho – U. S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors plan to begin work Thursday, Sept. 6, to rehabilitate flood-damaged areas of the Carmen Levee System, located in Carmen, Idaho, on the Salmon River in Lemhi County. The levee was damaged by sustained high flows during the 2017 flood season.

  • 18-104 Corps issues FONSI for Wilson Bridge boat ramp improvements

    WILSON, Wyo. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Wilson Bridge Boat Ramp Improvements, Section 408 permission, in Teton County, Wyoming.

  • 18-103 Corps to repair Willow Landing parking lot and access road; public access temporarily closed Sept. 10-14

    POMEROY, Wash. – Willow Landing, located about 18 miles east of Little Goose Lock and Dam on the south shoreline of the lower Snake River near Pomeroy, Washington, will be temporarily closed Monday, Sep. 10 until Friday, Sep. 14, to accommodate asphalt maintenance work, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Landing, located about 2 miles east of Little Goose Lock and Dam on the south shoreline of the lower Snake River near Starbuck, Washington, will be temporarily closed Monday, Sep. 10 until Friday, Sep. 14, to accommodate asphalt maintenance work, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.
