    WEIPPE, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the City of Weippe, Idaho, Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Improvements Project. Comments are due no later than June 27, 2018.
  • 18-060 Goats return to manage levee vegetation along Mill Creek; temporary leash rules in effect to help protect goats, visitors

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A herd of goats will arrive during the weekend to remove weeds and other vegetation growing on levees that border the creek shoreline extending from the Mill Creek diversion dam downstream to the metal division works foot bridge near the Mill Creek Office. Contractors who manage the goat-grazing service will arrive on Friday, June 15, to set up fencing.
  • 18-059 Bennington Lake return canal work requires temporary trail closures

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Repair work will require temporary closure of the paved trail along the Bennington Lake return canal and the parking lot located about halfway up the hill on Reservoir Road, next to where the open-air section of the canal transitions to an underground culvert. The trail will be closed Mondays through Thursdays, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning on Monday, June 11, until work on the canal is completed.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) invites public comments on the draft Mill Creek Flood Control Project Operations and Maintenance Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS). The draft SEIS 46-day comment period officially starts June 8, 2018, (the expected date of publication in the Federal Register) and will remain open through July 23, 2018.

Comments are due to the Corps no later than Thursday, June 21, 2018.
  • 18-056 Corps seeks public comments on draft Lower Granite Project Master Plan, EA

    POMEROY, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, has revised the 1974 Lower Granite Project Master Plan and prepared a draft Master Plan, with an accompanying draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA), for public review and comment. Comments are due to the Corps no later than Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
  • 18-055 Construction work June 4-6 to intermittently close Little Goose dam to vehicle crossings

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Vehicle crossings at Little Goose Lock and Dam, located at Snake River Mile 70.3 near Starbuck, Washington, will be intermittently closed June 4-6 to accommodate construction activities to occur on top of the dam, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Timber-harvest activities to occur throughout the remainder of the year around Dworshak Dam and Reservoir may require temporary access restrictions to some recreation areas, according to operations officials at the dam.
  • 18-053 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Monday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – If your upcoming Memorial Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced. Lower Granite Lock and Dam, on the Snake River near Pomeroy, Washington, will be open for public vehicle crossings on Memorial Day. Walla Walla District operations officials want to remind the public of the holiday closure affecting two of three dams on the Snake River in Washington that normally allow public vehicle crossings – Little Goose, near Starbuck, and Lower Monumental, near Kahlotus.
  • 18-052 Dworshak Dam Visitor Center announces summer season hours, tours

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Summer is just around the corner and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dworshak Dam Visitor Center will be open daily, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting Friday, May 25, of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Tours of Dworshak Dam will be offered daily at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tours are limited to 8 people and photo identification is required.
