    18-102 Corps to repair Little Goose Landing parking lot and access road; public access temporarily closed Sept. 10-14

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Landing, located about 2 miles east of Little Goose Lock and Dam on the south shoreline of the lower Snake River near Starbuck, Washington, will be temporarily closed Monday, Sep. 10 until Friday, Sep. 14, to accommodate asphalt maintenance work, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.

    18-101 Corps temporarily closes Little Goose navigation lock

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Dam's navigation lock temporarily closed to all vessel traffic today because of a malfunction with the downstream gate machinery, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials at the dam, located at Snake River Mile 70 near Starbuck, Washington.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Temporary Emergency Power Planning and Response Team (PRT) expert from the Walla Walla District arrived in Puerto Rico late-Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, to support the Corps’ Task Force Temporary Emergency Power, according to District emergency management officials.

    18-098 Corps seeks public input for Waitsburg Flood Risk Management study

    WAITSBURG, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District (Corps), invites public comments regarding the scope of the Corps’ proposed feasibility study and environmental assessment (study) to evaluate alternatives and recommend a plan to reduce the City of Waitsburg’s flood risks along the Touchet River. The Corps is particularly interested in public input about alternatives and environmental effects that should be considered. Written comments will be accepted Aug. 29 through Sept. 29, 2018.

    18-096 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Labor Day holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – If your upcoming Labor Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced. Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy, Wash., will be open for public vehicle crossings during the holiday weekend, offering extended hours – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2. On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, Lower Granite will be open for crossings and return to its non-summer schedule, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.

    18-095 Lower Monumental dam to temporarily suspend vehicle crossings Aug. 28-Sept. 6 for spillway maintenance

    KAHLOTUS, Wash. – Vehicle crossings at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam, located at Snake River Mile 41.6 near Kahlotus, Washington, will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 28, through Thursday, Sept. 6, to accommodate spillway-maintenance activities involving workers and heavy equipment using the top of the dam, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

    18-094 Corps to replace Swallows Park light posts; temporary parking lot, boat ramp closures scheduled

    CLARKSTON, Wash. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintenance staff will replace light posts and fixtures in the parking lot and boat-launch areas of Swallows Park, located at Snake River Mile 142, on the west riverbank in Clarkston, Washington, Corps officials at the Lower Granite Natural Resource Management Office announced today. For worker and visitor safety, temporary closures to public access will occur as work progresses.
