    21-015 McNary Lock and Dam to resume use of laser, test acoustic device to deter birds and protect salmon

    UMATILLA, Ore. – The US Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District will resume use of bird deterring lasers, and will be testing a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) to prevent birds from preying on endangered juvenile salmon passing through McNary Dam.

    21-014 Dworshak Dam discharges to increase to 9,700 cfs for upcoming week to support hatchery releases

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Dworshak Dam will be increasing releases to 9,700 cubic feet per second (cfs), to support hatchery releases which begin Wednesday, March 31.

    21-013 Little Goose transformer fails: resulting oil leak is contained

    Starbuck, Wash. – At approximately 2:15 Thursday, a transformer at Little Goose Dam had an oil loss as a result of an electrical incident: while some oil went into the gatewell, which is connected to the river, the oil was contained.

    STARBUCK, Wash. – At approximately 2:15 today, the T2 transformer at Little Goose Dam had an oil loss as a result of an electrical incident: the oil was captured in secondary containment and it hasn’t reached the river.

    21-011 Dworshak Dam discharges to decrease to 1,700 cfs for upcoming week

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – In order to meet flood control targets for March and April and to preserve water for hatchery releases in early April, Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases starting Saturday night, March 20, at midnight. This decrease will result in the river lowering approximately 2 feet between midnight on Saturday and 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, after which time reservoir releases will remain constant.

    21-010 Dworshak Dam discharges to decrease to 10,500 cfs for upcoming week

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – In order to meet flood control targets for March and April, Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases starting Friday night, March 12, at midnight. This decrease will result in the river lowering less than 1 foot over the hour between midnight on Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday morning, and less than 1 foot between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., after which time flows will remain constant.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District completed repairs to sections of the Mill Creek Levee System that were damaged during the February 2020 flooding.

This decrease will result in the river lowering less than 1 foot over the hour between midnight on Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

    21-007 Maintenance building upgrades to result in parking lot closure at Mill Creek

    Walla Walla, WA -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) will be trenching a septic line for the new maintenance building near the Mill Creek office beginning tomorrow, March 3. This work will result in the closure of the parking lot and road to the Mill Creek Office, March 3 and 4.

    21-006 Columbia and Snake river navigation locks will close March 6 for annual maintenance

    COLUMBIA & SNAKE RIVERS, Ore. & Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland and Walla Walla districts will close all Corps navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers March 6 at 6 a.m. for regularly-scheduled annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs.
