Robie Creek Park

* New in 2017, a large Group Use Area is available in the upper reaches of the park and is reservable through Recreation.gov.

* New in 2018, an emergency phone was installed near the entrance of Robie Creek Park.  It is capable of making free local calls in addition to 911.

Robie Creek Park offers visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities. This small park resides in the Mores Creek arm of Lucky Peak Lake and includes picnic shelters, grills, restrooms, playground equipment, and a kid-friendly swim area. A large open lawn allows for plenty of room to lay out a blanket, throw a Frisbee, and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery at the edge of the Boise National Forest. Located at the confluence of Mores Creek and Robie Creek and nestled between basalt cliffs, Robie Creek Park is one of the more scenic areas of Lucky Peak Lake.

Adjacent to the park is the free Robie Creek boat launch area – a one-lane ramp and dock with a restroom, swimming dock, and a small parking area. This arm of the lake is especially popular with non-motorized boaters since the low bridge over Mores Creek blocks motor boats and their wakes from a beautiful stretch of flat water favored by stand-up paddleboarders, kayakers and canoeists. Fishing can also be good on Mores Creek if you can elbow in among the osprey, especially when the kokanee begin their 20-mile run from Lucky Peak Lake towards Idaho City later in summer.

Park Ranger Marve Griffith notes, "Robie Creek is a great destination park. Whether you take the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Route or wind your way there through the mountains on Rocky Canyon Road, either way it's a great drive to a beautiful place."

Please consider the following when planning a trip to Robie Creek Park:

  • Use of the Robie Creek Park boat ramp and park area is free.
  • Parking is in marked stalls only at the Robie Creek boat ramp. Gravel parking areas near the ramp and across from the park entrance accommodate use on all but the busiest of days. This section of Robie Creek Road is posted “No Parking On Pavement” so please do not illegally park and impede normal and emergency traffic.
  • Dogs are to be leashed in this area unless accompanied at the shoreline to swim and fetch. Pets are not allowed, nor glass containers, at the Robie Creek swimming area.
  • This area, as all of Lucky Peak Lake, is a “Pack It In – Pack It Out” area. There are no nearby dumpsters available to deposit bagged trash.
  • There is no potable water in this area.
  • Lucky Peak remains in Stage 1 fire restrictions year-round.  Charcoal fires in portable grills are not allowed. Wood and charcoal fires must be kept in Agency-provided grills and be attended at all times. LPG and liquid fuel cooking stoves are allowed.
  • Cellular phone service does not exist at this location.
  • Robie Creek Park is not gated closed at night but is posted a Day Use Only area. Camping is not allowed. Overnight users to boat-in sites and others on the water may leave vehicles and trailers parked in the launch areas overnight, but land visitors here may be asked to leave after published Sunset.
