Dworshak Dam and Reservoir

Welcome to Dworshak Dam & Reservoir!  We hope you enjoy the variety of recreational opportunities that are offered here.  Whether it is fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, ATV riding, mountain biking, geocaching, camping, or wildlife watching you fancy, you can find it all here at Dworshak!  Surrounded by lush forested mountains, the 54 mile long reservoir is located in beautiful North Central Idaho.  Since the completion of the dam in 1973, Dworshak Dam has offered and is continually improving the recreational and natural resource benefits.  Our geocache trail has been completed check out our website or visitor center for locations.  We are currently working on horseback riding trails.

The dam is located on the North Fork of the Clearwater River, about 5 miles from Orofino, Idaho.  Dworshak Dam is a flood risk management project and was completed after seven years of construction.  Congress authorized the project for flood control, hydropower generation, outdoor recreation, navigation, and fish and wildlife benefits.  Today, we continue to operate for these purposes to benefit the public.

Relax and enjoy the great outdoors the way you want to... casting a line, telling tales around the campfire, or savoring some quiet solitude.  Please take a look around this site and see what opportunities may be here for you at Dworshak Reservoir. A Treasure worth Discovering!
