Grandad Recreation Area

Grandad is located close to the end of the reservoir near Headquarters, ID and offers 10 primitive sites. Grandad has tent pads, fire rings, picnic tables, a boat ramp with a dock, and a vault toilet.  It is a perfect place to camp with campsites right on the water.  Grandad is the perfect location to go ATV riding, snowmobiling, backpacking, biking, bird watching, boating, canoeing, climbing, fishing, fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and swimming.

Grandad is a “Pack It In-Pack It Out” area there are no dumpsters or garbage cans available for use.  Please help keep the park clean by taking your trash with you when you leave.

 

Please consider the following when planning your trip to Grandad:

-The use of Grandad is free.

-Reservations:

        -First-come First-serve camping.  Reserving sites for future use is not allowed.

        -Camping length of stay at Grandad is 14 days out of 30 days.

        -Quiet hours are from 10 pm-6 am.

        -Grandad is open spring to fall, weather permitting.

-The boat ramp is usable down to water elevation 1530 msl.

-Pets need to be on a leash and under control.

-“Pack It In-Pack It Out” bags are located at the boat ramp.

-Dumpsters, water, or electricity is not available.

Note:

-Hunting is prohibited. 

-ATV’s use is allowed on the roadways.

-Cell phone service is not available; radio or SAT phones only.
